The young Greek designer Ioanna Souflia sculpts the prestigious Thassos marble on the reduced scale of a jewel.

Ioanna Souflia’s marble jewels are powerful creations, unfolding voluminous in three dimensions. With its straight lines and curves, each graphic silhouette is underlined by lines of light formed by white, grey and black diamonds. Her powerful jewels are “the synthesis of her artistic side and the logical paradox of the lawyer”, the profession she initially set out to pursue. This logical paradox, dating from Greek Antiquity, pushes logic to the extreme, resulting in its opposite.
Marble, a witness to Greek history
Her marble work is unique. Valery Demure, consultant and founder of the Objet d’Emotion concept, describes it as “astounding”. Very few designers have used it in jewelry, with the exception of Claire Choisne at Boucheron. And above all, until now, none had made it their specialty. It is an eternal witness of Greek history, harking back to monumental works of art and the sumptuous vestiges of Antiquity.
A unique texture
In ancient times, marble was thought to be a living material… And for Ioanna Souflia, it “appeals to all the senses”. The pure forms and the absence of superfluous ornamentation highlight its grain, the calcite crystals creating a singular, matt and opaque – but also translucent – texture. Whether white or grey, it exists in perfect symbiosis with the colors of gold, yellow or pink, revealing itself in the shimmering of the perfectly polished metal. Avant-garde works… the works of an artist.
