Nouvel Héritage: when innovation meets tradition
This set of ten “Mood Wild Gardens” bracelets, all unique pieces, celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Nouvel Héritage brand.
By Sandrine Merle.
“Mood”. This ultra-flexible bracelet, with its distinctive piercing clasp, has been a major factor in the success of the brand based in the USA, home to founder Camille Parruitte Mc Kenna. It’s known as its “iconic jewel”, the ultra-desirable piece that’s instantly recognizable. Every brand dreams of having one… The ten new models created for this anniversary, all unique, are decorated with a stylized frieze of precious stones, evoking flora and fauna. Variations on the stone –diamond, tsavorite, yellow sapphire, red spinel – are matched by a diversity of cuts: navette, brilliant, princess or cabochon. The multiplicity of settings – claw, grain, closed or pearl – enhances the overall effect.
“Mood”, emblem of MCGP know-how
Nouvel Héritage is aptly named. This oxymoron evokes both historical savoir-faire and technology, a winning combination that also characterizes the MCGP group, its owner. Comprising two jewelry factories and a Paris workshop, this group was founded by Camille’s mother, Marie-Christine Grocq Parruitte. A former head of Cartier International in the 90s and 2000s, she has developed extensive expertise in the development, design and manufacture of jewelry. “Nouvel Héritage testifies to the virtuosity of our craftsmen, who have been working for many years on haute joaillerie pieces from the great brands,” she explains. “Mood” is a perfect demonstration of this, with its perfectly oval shape and extreme suppleness: it can be twisted for easy slip-on, and always returns to its original shape. Another is the Latch necklace, which mimics the tightening of a sweatshirt thanks to a system that slides on a chain.
“Mood Wild Gardens”, a window on manufacturing
Yellow sapphires evoke lemons and red spinels taste of pomegranates. These decorative motifs evoke the family’s passion for the countryside, flora and fauna. Camille Parruitte Mc Kenna even went so far as to grow vegetables on her balcony in New York. For Marie-Christine Grocq Parruitte, nature meets certain CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) concerns, such as the notion of well-being in the workplace. “In particular, we sought to improve the acoustics and lighting in the workshops. The idea of a vegetable garden adjacent to each of the two factories came about just before COVID, after seeing the one at Boston Hospital, where my daughters were living at the time”, she explains. There’s a gardener is at work all day long… The view from the factory is relaxing; the ever-changing plantations encourage discussion. And every week, employees receive a gift basket. Which, naturally, makes Nouvel Héritage a brand in tune with the times, combining family tradition, know-how and the upholding of a serene environment.
