Insectmania

It crawls, it swarms, it stings … In Delfina Delettrez’s world, nature is inhabited with the insects and animals she has phobias about, and which nevertheless she is strongly drawn to. In her capsule-collection of necklaces and brooches for the Dover Street Market in London, the beetle is sublimated. Of extreme fineness, the antennae and the legs are hypertrophied, disproportionate. On a beetle brooch, the body in textured gold and resin holds within it another, very real one from the designer’s collection. All the pieces are presented in numbered entomological boxes, in readiness to join a cabinet of curiosities.
