These three upcoming jewelry exhibitions, both very different, highlight the multiple facets of jewelry, from ornament to object of power, love or loyalty.<\/p>\n

In New York, “The Body Transformed” at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts<\/strong><\/p>\n

The cross-cutting approach (incorporating 4 themes: The Regal Body, The Transcendent Body, The Alluring Body and the Resplendent Body) presents 230 pieces belonging to the MET. Ranging from 2600 B.C. to the present day, they are balanced with photographs, paintings and sculptures.<\/p>\n

The thematic approach of “The Transformed Body”<\/a> creates a series of unusual juxtapositions. In the section devoted to desire, “The Alluring Body”, Victorian pearls are found next to Japanese combs, Elsa Schiaparelli pieces or Shaun Leane. In “The Resplendent Body”, the splendor of Mughal jewelry echoes that of the Akhan and Fon peoples of West Africa, Lalique or Castellani. It is also an opportunity to admire major pieces from one of the world’s greatest museums, such as the Egyptian double-headed necklace<\/a> dating from around 1800 BC.<\/p>\n

“The Body Transformed” at The MET Fifth Avenue – From November 12, 2018 to February 24, 2019<\/p>\n

In Paris, ” Les bagues d\u2019homme d\u2019Yves Gastou” at the Ecole des Arts Joailliers<\/strong><\/p>\n

The forthcoming exhibition of the \u00c9cole des Arts Joailliers is devoted to a private collection, that of the antique dealer Yves Gastou, based in Saint-Germain in Paris. A specialist in art from the 1940s to the present, this energetic 60-year-old is also a great lover of rings, to the point of owning a thousand-strong collection. Their stories merge with that of the man himself, his tastes and his style. The exhibition features 500 rings, poison rings of Venetian doges of the seventeenth century, rings carved by infantrymen in the trenches, rings by contemporary artists and silver biker rings of the 70s.<\/p>\n

In Moscow, “Bvlgari. Tribute to Femininity. Magnificent Roman Jewels”<\/strong><\/p>\n

The next Bulgari exhibition will take place at the Kremlin Museum in Moscow. With over 500 rooms, its scale is comparable to that of the Grand Palais in 2010. The chosen angle, femininity, features some of the most beautiful ambassadors for jewelry, from Anna Magnani and Gina Lollobrigida to Anita Ekberg. The exhibition will present several pieces for the first time, including Princess Ortonia’s tiara or a necklace with a colorful arrangement of diamonds, blue sapphires and rubies.
